Case Study for: Prolific Studio | Kaiser Permanente Pop-Up Eye Care Clinic
Getting an eye exam usually means taking time away from work and travelling to a clinic. Kaiser Permanente's pop-up eye care service offers a more convenient option by bringing eye exams directly to qualifying workplaces. Prolific Studio created an animated video to explain how the service works. The aim was to answer the questions an employee might have before booking an appointment, from registration and testing to choosing glasses and receiving ongoing support.
Project Objective
The Objective
The video needed to introduce the pop-up clinic service in a simple and welcoming way.
It had to show that the service is available to both Kaiser Permanente members and non-members within qualifying groups. It also needed to explain each stage without making the process feel complicated or overly clinical.
The final message was clear: employees could receive a complete eye care experience without leaving their workplace.
Our Streamlined Approach
Our Approach
Prolific Studio shaped the video around the experience of a patient attending the clinic.
The journey begins with online registration through a link shared by the employer's HR representative. It then moves through check-in and early testing with an ophthalmic assistant.
These tests may include eye pressure measurement, retinal photography, and a blood pressure check. Wellness resources are also provided before the patient meets the optometrist.
During the main exam, the optometrist checks the patient's vision and looks for possible signs of eye disease and wider health concerns, including diabetes and high blood pressure.
Challenges Faced
A full eye care visit involves several people, tests, decisions, and follow-up steps. Trying to explain everything at once could easily confuse the viewer. Medical terms also needed to be handled carefully so that people without a healthcare background could still understand what to expect. The video had to cover the full journey while staying clear, friendly, and easy to follow.

Solutions
From Examination to Eyewear
Patients receive a personal consultation, an after-visit summary, and a copy of their prescription. Kaiser Permanente members can also view their information through the website or mobile app.
An optician then helps the patient explore frames, lenses, and prescription options. The Lens Choice app is used to demonstrate features such as anti-reflective coatings, polarized lenses, active tints, single-vision lenses, and progressive lenses.
Available benefits and promotions are applied before the order is placed. The finished glasses can be delivered to the patient's home or a clinic at no added cost.
Results and Success
The completed video gave Kaiser Permanente a clear way to present the entire service in one connected story. Instead of relying on lengthy written instructions, viewers can see what will happen at every stage. The video also explains the 30-day guarantee and lifetime frame adjustments available through 49 Vision Essentials clinics. The project turned a detailed healthcare process into a simple introduction that employees could understand before booking their appointment.
